HAVE YOU UPGRADED YOUR PREPAID METER?
There has been a lot of confusion recently around ongoing comms regarding Prepaid and Postpaid Electricity meters.
There are three programmes underway:
1) ALL prepaid meters across the country HAVE to be upgraded (with a double voucher that you will have received over the last few months when you purchased power). This is NOT a physical replacement of the meter but is a software upgrade
2) If you DIDNT get the double voucher to enable the automatic upgrade then you don’t need to do anything
3) If you can’t remember if you have inputted it or not turn call the city on 0860103089 and supply your meter number to the call centre agent for an answer
4)NO prepaid Token Identifiers (ie NO prepaid purchase electricity vouchers ) will work after 24 November 2024 - unless you have upgraded your meter software as above
5) If you still have a postpaid meter this needs to be REPLACED with a prepaid meter as soon as possible
6) If you have missed the previous opportunities - over the last four years - to do this (at no charge) I urge you to do so as a matter of urgency
7) If you have a very old (30 years plus) Prepaid meter this too needs to be replaced - at no charge.

9) …..as an aside IF you have an inverter or battery or Solar set up that is not formally city-approved you will also need to apply via the city’s online portal for a new split Pre
